My children, like many, love to play football. In 2025 a few of the school Dads (including myself) organised a kick around for the kids in a local sports hall. This was nothing serious, but a nice way for the kids to play football in a safe, none judgemental environment with their friends. It was great fun and something we all looked forward.
Fast forward, several months later and Kishan Chavda (one of the childrens Dads) wanted to turn this casual kick about into a grass roots football club. Foxes United FC was born!
I wanted to do something for this club as its special to me, given this was my childrens introduction into football. I asked Kishan to let me develop and build the website, for free, which he happily agreed.
The design
I designed the website to have a warm, friendly fun feel, with football at its heart. If a parent was looking for a local football team they came to the Foxes United FC website, I want them to feel like this would be a great club for their child.
They would see immediately, the kids are happy, there are coaches to support and the environment is safe
Features
This needed to be easy to maintain for the admin so I built some features to make their life easy.
- A calendar view of upcoming sessions. For parents checking when the next session is on or if any have been cancelled, should be able to see this easily. Equally, for anyone updating the schedule, this can be done in a couple of clicks
The admin can go into the backend and set the dates of any cancelled sessions
- Add team news and updates. Anyone who wants to keep up to date on the latest club news could visit the News section to find out more
- Gallery to showcase the latest photos:
- Maintain the website in one easy area. The CMS has one area which the club admin can visit to make key changes. I named this “Club Content” for ease. This avoids any template changes
Whats next
This has been a fun project to work on. Seeing it come into fruition and working as expected has made me very happy, especially as its something close to my children.
I’ll be continueing to make more changes to the site in my spare time.
